Hamas, Islamic Jihad Back Palestinian Committee to Oversee Gaza Security

Leaders from Hamas and Islamic Jihad have agreed to transfer Gaza’s internal security to a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee, as outlined in the Gaza truce. The committee will be formed by consensus among Palestinian factions and will oversee security using Gaza’s existing police, with the option to integrate Palestinian officers trained abroad, including in Egypt.
