Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Health Kianoush Jahanpourin told Iran Press that maximum public contribution together with the highest degrees of self-care all across Iran is the most important factor in defeating the disease.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Health Kianoush Jahanpour in an exclusive interview with Iran Press explained the probable time for subsiding the outbreak of the disease, saying that it is impossible to set the accurate scientific assessment in this regard.

However, he added that the experts including the epidemiologists are talking about the different scenarios, since the disease is newly discovered, the information in terms of epidemiology and pathogenicity is too limited.

Jahanpour explained further that the reports coming from China and some of the southeast Asian countries which have been affected most by COVID-19 has been considered as the bases for Iranian experts' scenarios about how the end of the outbreak would be.

Iran's top health official also categorized the scenarios to 3 levels of optimistic, pessimistic and those which are somewhere in the middle. According to Jahanpour, the optimistic scenario says that the peak time for the COVID-19 outbreak reflected in form of the ascending chart will last by March 15, 2020, or some say that it will last by March 24.

"After the period passes, with the help of the people and through practicing hygienic principles, one could say that the ground would be paved so that the chart would be descending to the final eradicating the disease," he added.

Referring to the fact that all of these are just rough estimation and there are considered as hypothetical, Jahanpour highlighted that the maximum contribution of people and individuals together with the highest degrees of self-care all across Iran is the most important factor in defeating the diseases.

"More than 80 percent of improving one depends on self-care and the remaining 20 percent will be related to government intervention and healthcare providing services. However, self-care, in turn, is also related to having the necessary information about the issue," said Jahanpour.

Iran's top official also said that the knowledge has been raised in Iranian society even in the most remote area due to the efforts of the Iranian media so that the next step will depend on every individual to apply the principles in their own lives and take it seriously.
