The Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan has urged the Taliban to ensure that they will treat all faiths and ethnicities with equality and justice.

Iran PressAsia: A delegation from the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan met with a number of members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban leadership council on Wednesday.

The delegation from the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan was chaired by Mohammad Akbari, the second deputy executive council of the council, and the Taliban delegation was chaired by Sheikh Shahabuddin Delavar, chairman of the Tehreek-e-Taliban political committee.

During the meeting, the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan said the next government should ensure the participation of all religions and ethnicities.

The prominent Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan also called on the Taliban to ensure the safety and security of women and minorities.

Akbari emphasized the importance of security and social justice, adding: "An inclusive government that is a complete mirror of all ethnic groups living in the country and consisting of all directions, should be formed as soon as possible."

The Ulema Council stressed that building trust is very important for the peace of mind of the people; saying that it was necessary to take practical steps in this direction. 

For his part, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delavar expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, saying, "It was a priority for us to meet the esteemed Shia scholars first."

The head of the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) political committee stressed that unity among all the people of the country and brotherhood between Shias and Sunnis is very important. "

"Forty years of experience have shown that no group can rule Afghanistan alone, so minorities should not be ignored, but all people and all groups should be considered. We are serious about working with you," he added.

Sheikh Delavar said, "We are working to form a comprehensive and inclusive government; But it takes time because, contrary to the agreements, we are facing unexpected developments and we need more time to establish an inclusive government."

He added that in order to prevent any possible abuse, they have ordered that no one is allowed to enter people's homes under any circumstances.

Sheikh Delavar further said, "We should work together so that people have peace of mind."

In the end, the parties stressed the need to continue the talks.
