Iran Press/ Health: The 21st of September has been named World Alzheimer's Day. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia that affects the patient's memory, thoughts, verbal and judgment skills, reading comprehension, and general cognitive function.
This year, the day emphasizes on "preventive measures and delaying Alzheimer's".
Signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease are:
- Disruption of daily life as a result of memory loss
- Facing challenges in planning and solving problems
- Difficulty doing normal tasks
- Speech and written language disorders
- Spatial and temporal confusion
- Problems of visual perception and spatial communication
- Impaired or diminished judgment
- Withdrawal from work and social activities
- Changes in mood, behavior and personality
- Losing things and forgetfulness
Ways to fight Alzheimer's:
1. Reduce stress
Avoiding stress in today's modern life is almost impossible; But with solutions, stress can be managed and its harmful effects can be reduced.
2. Exercise regularly
Recent studies show that in addition to physical effects, regular exercise slows down the progression of Alzheimer's disease.
3. Have enough sleep
Sufficient sleep of 6 to 9 hours between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM is effective in reducing the risk of Alzheimer's disease by strengthening brain function and memory.
4. Reduce bad cholesterol
Recent studies show that high levels of LDL cholesterol reduce the age of Alzheimer's disease.
