Shiraz (IP) - The second victim of Iran's Shah Cheragh terrorist act was also martyred.

Iran PressIran news: The shrine of Ahmad bin Musa (Shah Cheragh), son of the 7th Imam, is in Shiraz, the capital of Fars province. It is a gathering place for lovers of Ahlul-Bayt.

As a result of the terrorist attack on the Shahcheragh shrine late on Sunday, one person was martyred, and several people were injured; one was reported to be in critical condition.

News agencies and local media reported on Monday the martyrdom of the second person. 

The attacker attempted to gain entry into the mausoleum through the Bab al-Mahdi Gate and indiscriminately opened fire on innocent people.

One of the assailants has been apprehended, while the other remains at large.

The injured victims have been rushed to hospitals for treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition. Authorities fear that the number of fatalities may rise.

 An Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) commander in Fars province revealed that the detained terrorist was found carrying a rifle and 8 magazines.

This is not the first armed terrorists have targeted the Shah Cheragh shrine. Last year, on October 26, 2022, another attack took place, resulting in the death of 13 pilgrims, including women and children.

In response to this incident, several suspects were promptly arrested. Two weeks later, the Intelligence Ministry announced that 26 Takfiri terrorists had been apprehended for involvement in this heinous act.
