Qazvin (IP) - Historical buildings and sites are a part of the cultural heritage and identity of countries, expressing the history of art for the new generations.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian history, art, and architecture are tied to historical monuments and wherever you look in Iran, you can see a part of the indescribable art of Iranians.

One of these historical buildings is Saad al-Saltaneh Caravanserai in Qazvin province, west of Tehran, which is the largest roofed caravanserai in Iran with an area of 6 hectares.

The caravanserai was built by the order of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar to promote Iran's trade with other countries. With its Iranian architecture, the caravanserai is one of the manifestations of Iranian history and civilization. 

Sa'd al-Sultaneh Caravanserai of Qazvin along with other 53 Iranian Caravanserai were registered as world heritages in 2023.

Saad al-Sultaneh Caravanserai also is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The magnificence of Iranian architectural art in Iran from Persepolis in Shiraz to other historical buildings, including Saad al-Sultaneh Caravanserai in Qazvin and Golestan Palace in Tehran, are all national treasures of Iran, which attract many tourists to see the invaluable masterpieces.

On the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites on April 18, visiting historical monuments in Iran has been declared free so that people and tourists get to know the rich historical, cultural, artistic, and civilization roots of Iran.

The International Day for Monuments and Sites was designated on the proposal of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on April 18, 1982.
