Russian Deputy FM Sergei Ryabkov

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has supported Iran's step-by-step withdrawal from its obligations under the nuclear deal because of the unilateral exit and resumption of its sanctions.

Iran Press/Iran news: The US pressures following its unilateral withdrawal were not only a gross and overt violation, he was quoted saying, but it left other signatories with no option.

After the US stepped out in 2018 and illegally re-imposed sanctions on Iran, Tehran in 2019 started incremental reduction of its commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement as the European side did not implement its obligations toward Iran under US pressure.

Ryabkov stressed that while Iran has abided by its obligations, it has been the European side (Britain, France, and Germany) which has failed in carrying out its commitments.

Two major signatories of the nuclear agreement -- China and Russia -- have condemned the US negative approach and called for a balance between the obligations and rights under the deal.
