Iran Press/Iran news : "The Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking to strengthen security in the region, and Iran has no intention of getting involved in a conflict with regional or world powers, but if enemies make an unwise move, they will face a decisive response and they will regret their actions." Iranian President told Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani .
President Rouhani also stressed that the policy of Tehran is to develop relations with Doha.
According to a report by the official Presidential website, Rouhani said: “Regional issues have no military solution and we believe that threat, pressure, siege, and economic sanctions are wrong moves in relations between governments,”he added.
President Rouhani also welcomed Qatar’s stances at the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) and the Arab League meetings, and said: “The stances of the Qatari government in these two meetings are based on the policy of good neighbourliness and aimed at reducing tensions”.
“Without a doubt, any summit that does not bring regional countries closer together will be ineffective, counterproductive and even harmful,” Iranian President said.
President Rouhani also said, “What we are witnessing in the region in relations of Saudi Arabia and the UAE with Yemen and Qatar, and their tense relations with Iran, will be detrimental to the entire region”.
Rouhani added, “Iran’s stance towards Kuwait’s occupation by Saddam, Saudi Arabia and UAE’s invasion on Yemen, and the siege of Qatar proves that Iran is against war, pressure and sanctions in this region”.
During the phone call, the Emir of Qatar also congratulated Eid al-Fitr to the Iranian President, government and nation, saying, “The points of view of Tehran and Doha are very close in many regional issues and the frequent contact between the two countries are very productive”.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also stressed that Qatar believes that negotiation is the only way to ease tensions.
He also described relations between Iran and Qatar historical and appreciated Tehran’s stances towards the siege of Qatar, adding: “Qatar wants to develop relations with Iran in all fields”.
