Nairobi (IP) - In an exclusive interview with an Iran Press correspondent in Nairobi, Rev. Musindai Frederick from the Vatican, when asked about the duty of Muslims and the international community towards Gaza, Said that we need solidarity.

Iran PressAfrica: Rev. Musindai Frederick emphasized: "One thing I can confidently say is that what's happening in Gaza is a disaster that is in our eyes and we need to take a stand, we cannot play sitting on the fence seeing people die massacre and we say we cannot say something because we belong to this party we belong to the country we belong to this organization we need solidarity knowing that what we're talking about is about human life and if we are all made in the image and likeness of god we have the responsibility to protect one another to ensure that that life which is sanctified is preserved by all means."

He further stated that what is happening in Gaza is more of a religious problem than it is political and therefore it is incumbent upon people of all religious backgrounds to come together and condemn the injustices.

When further asked about the importance of Islam's view of peace, he described that the origin of the word 'Islam comes from the word peace and urged Muslims to refer back to the Quran and Sunnah to get a deeper understanding of peace.

"There's a lot we can learn from Muslims all we need is a new approach which I call the neo-rationalist approach whereby we use reason and faith we put the two together because if we dwell on the classical understanding that you know was creating boundaries along religions we may not end anywhere. Islam has a lot to teach about peace it's there all," he concluded.
