Tehran (IP) - The Swearing-in ceremony of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in the Iranian Parliament kicked off with the presence of Iranian senior officials, military commanders, senior foreign officials invited from across the globe, and foreign ambassadors residing in Iran.

Iran PressIran news: After being endorsed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on Sunday, the swearing-in ceremony of  President Masoud Pezeshkian in Iranian Parliament is underway.

Pezeshkian will take the oath of office before Iranian lawmakers, the Judiciary chief, members of the Constitutional Council, the head of the Assembly of Experts, senior military officials, and ministers in the previous administration.

Pezeshkian formally began his four-year term as Iran’s ninth president and the head of the 14th Iranian administration on Sunday after the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei endorsed him.

Nearly 80 senior foreign delegates, including foreign Presidents, vice presidents, deputy ministers, parliament speakers, ambassadors, senior officials of the regional and global organization, and many Iranian and foreign journalists attended the ceremony.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday formally endorsed Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran’s new president on Sunday.

President Pezeshkian won the second round of the presidential election on July 5th with 53.7 percent of the vote.

The snap election was called after President Ebrahim Raisi was martyred in a helicopter crash in May.

At the start of the ceremony, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf delivered a speech to the guests.

Ghalibaf said: Today marks the beginning of a new era in the life of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, a revolution that has embarked on a glorious and civilization-building path over the past five decades, influencing the global order. Today is a display of unity and a single voice of the Iranian people to the world.

This is a historic day, not only because Mr. Pezeshkian will take the oath of office as the President of Iran to serve the people, but also because we commit to assisting the executive branch in advancing the country, ensuring the welfare of the people, and realizing the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.

The Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) will utilize all its legislative and consultative bodies to support the honorable government in the challenging path ahead, ensuring honest service to the people.

Iranian Parliament Speaker also said: We believe that the guiding light of the country's truth is revolutionary rationality and efficiency, which can decisively bring about the welfare of the people and the progress of the nation, relying on the people's support.

The Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) will stand alongside the executive branch in organizing the economy, livelihood, progress, and prosperity of the country. Ensuring a sustainable environment for future generations and establishing justice and equality in health and education are challenging paths that can only be achieved through the solidarity of all branches of government.

Iran's Judiciary Chief also delivered his speech to the guests

Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i said:  We honor the memory of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the late Imam Khomeini (may Allah bless his soul), the esteemed martyrs, including Martyr Major General Qasem Soleimani, and the martyrs of service. We are grateful to God that, despite the grief and sorrow of the Iranian people over the loss of their beloved president and the increasing provocations of ill-wishers and adversaries, the 14th presidential election was held with complete calm, security, competition, and integrity.

In July 2024, the people elected Masoud Pezeshkian as president. This choice was officially confirmed on Sunday, July 28, 2024, in a ceremony by the Supreme Leader. As the highest official of the country, after the Supreme Leader, the president assumes the responsibilities of executing the Constitution and leading the executive branch, except in matters related to the leadership.
