New York (IP) - The President of Iran called the relations between Tehran and Tokyo friendly and long-standing.

Iran PressAmerica: In a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in New York on Wednesday, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, called the relations between the two countries friendly and long-standing and said: "It is necessary to find innovative ways to prevent unilateral and cruel US sanctions from affecting the relations between the two countries."

With a history of more than 90 years of political and economic relations, Iran and Japan have good relations with each other.

In this meeting, Raisi stated that Iran's economic and commercial relations with many countries of the world are developing, adding that due to the long history of cooperation between Iran and Japan in many fields, the relations between the two countries can be strengthened day by day.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran continued by honoring the memory of late Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo and noted that he had made a lot of effort and was interested in increasing the cooperation between the two countries.

Iran's position on nuclear issue completely logical and defensible

In this meeting, Raisi also pointed to the unilateral and unlawful withdrawal of the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was blamed by the whole world, and said: "The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the nuclear issue is completely logical and defensible."

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that Iran is ready to reach a fair agreement and added that due to the negative history of America, it is necessary to obtain guarantees to prevent the repetition of that bitter experience.

In this meeting, the Prime Minister of Japan recalled his good memories of visiting Iran in the past years and pointed out the current cooperation between the two countries in the fields of health, water, environment and crisis prevention, saying: "We are ready to increase cooperation with Iran in various sectors and we respect the ongoing efforts to reach a nuclear agreement."
