IRAN-U.S. NUCLEAR TALKS 2025

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman on Sunday for the fourth round of indirect nuclear negotiations with the United States, declaring that Iran’s right to uranium enrichment is “non-negotiable.” His visit began with a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi.

Why it matters:

The talks come at a critical juncture as Iran and the U.S. attempt to revive diplomacy amid ongoing tensions. Araghchi’s firm stance on enrichment signals a sign that it is Iran's red line.

The big picture:

Oman has hosted three rounds of indirect talks since April 12, playing a central mediating role.

The fourth round, delayed earlier due to “logistical reasons,” has resumed today with Muscat once again facilitating the process.

What they’re saying:

Araghchi (before departure):

“Uranium enrichment capability is a source of pride and accomplishment for the Iranian nation, achieved at a great cost, including the blood of our nuclear scientists. This achievement is unequivocally non-negotiable.”

During the meeting, Araghchi thanked Oman for its key mediating role and laid out Iran’s principled views on the negotiations.

Badr al-Busaidi: Expressed Oman’s continued commitment to facilitating the talks and briefed Araghchi on the latest logistical and procedural arrangements.
