Iran Press/ Africa: According to Iran press, Ebrahim Raisi, on his eighth foreign trip in 2023, on the evening of the 1st of Shahrivar(August23), accompanied by Top cleric Mohsen Qomi, Deputy Director of International Communications of the Office of the Supreme Leader, Mohammad Mokhber, First Vice President and a group of members of the government Departed Tehran for Johannesburg.
This trip is the 8th foreign trip of the president during the establishment of the 13th government, and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mohammad Jamshidi, the deputy presidential chief of staff for political affairs, accompanying Ayatollah Raisi on this trip.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi made remarks before heading to Johannesburg (South Africa) to attend the 15th BRICS summit on Wednesday evening.
Ebrahim Raisi said in a presser that BRICS is undoubtedly one of the world's emerging powers, and the Islamic Republic seeks to cooperate with the group.
Raisi said that he would visit South Africa in order to declare the positions of Iran and have meetings with the leaders of BRICS and the participating countries.
President Raisi said that all of the meetings are to be held in line with the development of the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries and will lead to the capacities exchange between the BRICS member countries.
He expressed that the short trip would lead to the expansion of the relations between Iran and the regional and transregional unions.
During this trip, in addition to participating and giving a speech at the 15th BRICS Plus meeting, to which the leaders of 70 countries have been invited, the president will also meet and talk with a number of the leaders of the countries present at this summit.
This is while "Xi Jinping", the Chinese counterpart of Ayatollah Raisi, July of last year, as the temporary BRICS chairman, officially invited the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in the 14th BRICS summit, and Ayatollah Raisi attended the meeting through video conference and expressed his views. The Islamic Republic has explained about international issues and the development of commercial and economic cooperation with other countries.
In that meeting, only Iran was invited among the countries of the West Asian region.
