Iran Press/Iran news: Making a phone call to the Chief of the European Council Sharl Mishell on Sunday, Masoud Pezeshkian said that the US policies in exerting pressure on such countries as the Islamic Republic of Iran and trying to deprive them of all their rights aims to prevent the establishment of the new order, stability, and peace in the world.
As with the resumption of the JCPOA negotiation, Pezeshkian told the European senior official that in case the Western side fulfilled its commitments to the international deal the way would be paved to talk about other topics.
Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, to lift the West's sanctions on Iran, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.
According to the agreement Iran was supposed to curb some of its legal nuclear activities and the other side was supposed to lift sanctions on the Iranian nation. The Western parties did not fulfill their commitments to the deal contrary to Iran which began to carry out the obligations and fulfilled them.
The Head of the European Council, for his part, expressed hope for good Iran-EU relations based on mutual interest and stressed the tendency of the European countries to improve the level of ties with Iran.
Sharl Mishell also stressed on observing humanitarian rights, stopping attacks, establishing a ceasefire and massive aid to the people of Gaza, as well as recognizing the independent state of Palestine.
Since October 7, 2023, for 10 months, the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza has left about 40,000 people killed and over 91,500 others injured.
