Tehran (IP) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized the need to utilize global expertise in crafting an operational roadmap to develop the country’s free trade zones and ports.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking on Sunday, December 15, 2024, during a session on maritime-based economic strategies, Pezeshkian underscored the importance of strategic planning to maximize the potential of Iran’s coastal and port facilities.

“We must engage experienced international advisors who have a proven track record in developing and revitalizing major global ports. With their guidance, we can create a comprehensive and actionable plan and then move forward with targeted implementation,” Pezeshkian stated.

Highlighting the lack of a cohesive strategy in the maritime economy, Pezeshkian expressed concerns about fragmented efforts in this critical sector. “Without a solid roadmap, any actions taken will fail to achieve the desired outcomes,” he warned.

The president also stressed the need to define clear objectives for the development of the maritime economy and trade within free zones and ports. “In these sessions, our aim is to determine what programs and goals we need to pursue for the advancement of maritime-based trade and economic activities,” he explained.

Calling for the integration of Iran’s ports, Pezeshkian labeled the completion of rail and road corridors linking the country’s ports as “an urgent necessity.” He tasked the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development to present a detailed plan for these corridors in the next session.
