Iran Press/ Africa: Iran's Oil Minister, Javad Owji, made the statement in a meeting with Angolan Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Diamantino Pedro Azevedo on the sidelines of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum Summit of Heads of State and Government in the Algerian capital Algiers on Saturday.
Iran has the technical know-how for producing gas and catalysts, said the oil minister, explaining natural gas constitutes more than 93 percent of fuel used by the country’s power plants.
He said Iran is seeking to attract domestic and foreign capital to develop its rich onshore and offshore reserves.
Iran has become self-sufficient in the downstream sector, continued Owji, referring to compressed natural gas (CNG) technology used in the country.
The Angolan oil minister, for his part, talked about liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas production for the household sector, stressing the need to develop the petrochemical and steel industries in his country.
The two sides agreed to study cooperation in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, particularly the export of Iran’s technical and engineering services as well as petrochemicals and CNG to the Southern African country. 219
