Tehran (IP) - Iran's Interior Minister has emphasized the importance of political participation in safeguarding the country's security, saying that people are the basis of the country's security.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting on the upcoming parliamentary election attended by Iran's governors and governors-general, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said that considering the fact that the election advertisement has begun since morning, he has discussed with the governors and governors-general the ways to preserve the security and health of the elections.

The Interior Minister added that all equipment and facilities are ready and all executive forces are well trained to hold the election.

He went on to say that the governors emphasized on creating advertising opportunities to secure the maximum participation of the people in the election.  

The official also said that the number of voters is more than 57 million.

Rahmani Fazli noted that in case that the second round of election would be required, two dates in April have been suggested to the Guardian Council.

"In the Interior Ministry, we have several inspection groups who have been active since last month, monitoring everything related to the candidates. Fortunately, we have not received many reports of infringements," the Minister said.

He expressed hope that there will be no election infringement at all and everyone abides by the rules.

"The infringement reports are delivered to us through people and the candidates' competitors and after evaluation, in case their offense is proven, they will be delivered to competent authorities," the Minister concluded.

Iran's parliamentary election campaign officially started across the country on Thursday.

The 11th round of Iran's parliamentary elections and the midterm elections for the Assembly of Experts will be held simultaneously on February 21.
