Islamabad (IP) - Protests and rallies were held across the country on Friday against the ongoing terrorism and road closures in Parachinar, a border area of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Iran Press/Asia: The participants of the protests held placards, shouted justice-seeking slogans, and slogans against terrorist elements.

A rally was taken out from Masjid Athana Ashri in Islamabad, led by leaders of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen. The rally reached the Press Club from China Square where the demonstration was held. Similarly, a big rally was held in Karachi, where the participants of the rally demonstrated at Numaish Chowrangi. A protest demonstration was also held in Peshawar after Friday prayers.

Demonstrations were also held in other cities of the country, including Rawalpindi, Quetta, Lahore, and Parachinar.

Addressing the protesters, scholars and social figures said that despite the passage of so many days, there has been a shortage of food and medicine in Parachinar due to the closure of roads; innocent children are dying due to lack of treatment. Several rounds of talks were held, but no result could be achieved.

The speakers said that while the negotiations were still underway, two more youths belonging to the Shia community were martyred by slitting their throats. They said if this dispute is only about land acquisition, then why doesn't the government resolve it?

On this occasion, the speakers said that if the Parachinar issue is not resolved as soon as possible, a sit-in will be held across the country, which will continue until the demands are accepted and implemented.
