Qom (IP) - Over 3 million pilgrims of Imam Mahdi, the twelfth Shia Imam attended Jamkaran Mosque on Wednesday on the occasion of Mid-Shabban and the birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi.

Iran PressIran news: Mid-Shaban holiday, is the 15th day of the Islamic lunar calendar's eighth month called Sha'ban which marks the birth anniversary of the twelfth Shia Imam.

Abolghasem Moghimi, deputy governor-general for cultural, social, and pilgrimage affairs of Qom Province, said on Wednesday that the number of pilgrims has been estimated based on road traffic towards the holy mosque of Jamkaran as well as cell phones near the sacred place.

According to the official, the number of 3 million pilgrims registered until Wednesday noon.

Jamkaran Mosque in Qom near Tehran province is attributed to Imam Mahdi.

Like every corner across Iran, a ceremony was held in Tehran's Grand Mosalla on Wednesday the 15th day of the Month of Shaaban, or Mid-Sha'ban, which marks the birthday of the twelfth Shia Imam, Imam Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Mahdi (AS).
