The worldwide death toll from the coronavirus is now over 1.4 million, while the global case tally is more than 60 million .

Iran Press/America: Scientists are working on vaccines in order to stop the global pandemic, as a new wave has forced multiple countries to re-impose lockdowns or severe restrictions. In Europe, lockdowns have been imposed in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, and other countries.

The most affected countries are the US (12.7 million infected, 262,000 deaths), India (9.2 million cases, 134,000 fatalities), and Brazil (6.1 million cases, and over 170,000 deaths).

UK records highest daily Covid-19 death toll since May 5. The coronavirus-related deaths in Britain rose by 696 to 56,533, marking the highest daily death number since May 5.

Another 18,213 people in Britain have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 1,557,007.

Americans defied pleas from state and local officials to stay home for the Thanksgiving holiday in the face of the surging coronavirus pandemic, triggering fresh warnings from health officials with the release of vaccines still weeks away.

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden joined in the calls for safety, urging people to forgo big family gatherings, wear protective masks and maintain social distancing.
