Recent surveys indicate that the ongoing "Al-Aqsa Storm" operation and Israel's aggressive attacks on Palestinian civilians have significantly influenced American perceptions regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Iran Press/America:  As the war in Gaza continues into its second year, an increasing number of Americans are expressing support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and urging the U.S. government to play a more active role in ending the conflict.

According to a report by Forbes, a recent Pew Research Center poll reveals that nearly 3 in 10 Americans (31%) believe Israel's military operations in Gaza have gone on for too long.

Furthermore, a significant portion of Americans (36%) are uncertain about Israel’s handling of the war with Hamas, a noticeable increase from December last year.

The Pew survey also found that by September, a larger percentage of Americans (61%) felt that the U.S. should take a diplomatic role in resolving the conflict, compared to 55% in February. However, the data also highlights a partisan divide: Republicans (25%) are more likely than Democrats (13%) to believe that the U.S. should avoid diplomatic involvement in the conflict.

This marks a decline from earlier in the year when 32% of Republicans and 21% of Democrats opposed U.S. diplomatic intervention in Gaza.

A joint survey by Associated Press and NORC Public Affairs Research shows that 29% of Americans now support the creation of an independent Palestinian state, an increase from 22% in August 2023, prior to the October 7 attacks.

Additionally, Forbes cited another joint poll by the Pearson Institute and Associated Press, showing that around 4 in 10 Americans believe the U.S. is spending too much on military aid to Israel.

A report from last year by NPR, PBS News, and the Marist Polling Institute indicated that even before the October 7 attacks—and the two-front war Israel is now facing in Gaza and Lebanon—79% of Americans were concerned that the Israel-Hamas conflict could escalate into a broader Middle East war. That concern has only deepened as the conflict continues.
