Iran, Vietnam call for launching new banking mechanism

The parliament speakers of Iran and Vietnam emphasized the need for launching a banking system to strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

Iran Press/Middle East: The two countries' economic cooperation needs launching a banking system as the trade ties cannot be broadened unless the monetary exchanges between the Iranian and Vietnamese banks is established, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said in the meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in the Qatari capital.

He also said that Iran was ready for cultural cooperation with different countries, including holding Vietnam Day, Iran Press reported.

The Chairwoman of Vietnam's National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, for her part, echoed his Iranian counterpart's views on banking ties, and added that establishing a new banking mechanism would be on top of her agenda upon returning to her home country.

She also called for more deepening of cultural relations with Iran, including teaching Persian Language.

The 140th meeting of the IPU hosted by Qatar started on April 7 and it will last until April 10. Some 200 parliamentary figures are participating at the gathering that resembles the United Nations General Assembly. 104/202
