Tehran (IP) - Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly dismisses the claim in the final statement of the NATO summit about Iran's military assistance to Russia in the Ukraine war. Iran considers the allegations to be completely baseless and are made for political goals by NATO.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanani rejected NATO's allegations that Iran is providing military support to Russia as "absolutely ungrounded and politically motivated".

Nasser Kanani, in response to a part of the statement of the NATO summit in Washington, said: "Unfortunately, what we are witnessing in Ukraine is the result of NATO's provocative policies and actions on the part of the US-led NATO which is continuing."

"Iran’s strategy has always been to play a constructive and sustainable role in ensuring security in the region and globally," the Iranian diplomat said. According to him, any attempts to think of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia in connection with the Ukraine conflict are being made exclusively "to justify continued Western military assistance to Ukraine."

The NATO summit began in Washington on Tuesday, July 9, and is scheduled to continue until the end of Thursday, July 11.
