Iran Press/ Iran News: Farvardin 29 (April 18) is named Army Day in the calendar of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Naming Farvardin 29 as Iran's National Army Day was one of the initiatives of Imam Khomeini (RA), the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran at a time when the Islamic Republic Army was facing various forms of internal and external sabotage.
The message of Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces reads, "Faravrdin 29" in the history of the revolution and Islamic Iran is a reminder of one of the great and sensitive events of the country at a decisive historical moment, during which and at the height of sedition aimed at the dissolution of the army by the anti-revolution elements and global arrogance, with the intelligence and foresight of Imam Khomeini (RA) issued the order to maintain, strengthen and demonstrate the strength of the army, thwarted the plot of the enemies and the birth of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army took place.
Major General Bagheri added that the contemporary history of Iran testifies that what has guaranteed the stable and unique security of the country and preserved its territorial integrity from the attacks of the enemies in the past 44 years has undoubtedly been the epic and powerful efforts and role-playing of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially the army.
Iranian Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces stated that the stunning progress of the Iranian army in various fields of defense and the acquisition of modern and up-to-date military technologies in the ground, air, sea, and defense forces has been achieved by relying on the spirit of self-belief and local and internal capabilities. Even now, the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has made Iran one of the manifestations of deterrence, authority, security, and pride of the country and has subdued the enemies.
