The Presidents of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Russia adopted the communique of the 6th Caspian Summit on June 29 in Ashgabat.

Iran PressAsia: The sixth round of the Caspian Littoral Summit began on Wednesday afternoon in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

The presidents of the five littoral states of the Caspian Sea, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan, are present at the Summit meeting.

The leaders discussed important cooperation issues in the Caspian Sea region and exchanged views about relevant aspects of international and regional issues of mutual interest.

The leaders agreed to use the resources of the region for peaceful purposes.

"Use of the Caspian Sea for peaceful purposes, it should be the zone of peace, good neighborhood, friendship and cooperation, all arising issues related to the Caspian Sea will be addressed peacefully," the communique reads.

Several bilateral talks were held by the leaders on the sidelines of the Caspian Summit.

The next Caspian summit will be held in Iran.

The Iranian president, on Wednesday, met his counterparts from Turkmenistan, the Azerbaijan Republic, and Russia.
