Iran Press/ Iran News: On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Sadiq (PBUH), the participants in the International Conference on Islamic Unity, the heads of the three branches of government (judiciary, executive, and legislative) together with a group of government officials met with the Leader of the Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in Imam Khomeini Hussainiyyah on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this meeting was held without the presence of the people.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said Palestine is the main benchmark of unity of the Islamic Ummah, which is beyond the unity of Sunni-Shia Muslims.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called normalizing relations with the usurping Israeli regime a big sin and mistake and added, saying: "These governments must reverse this action and return from this wrong path against Islamic unity and make up for their big mistake."
He highlighted two main duties of the Muslim Ummah, to explain and promote the comprehensiveness of Islam in all aspects of human life and boost the unity of Muslims.
Ayatollah Khamenei further said: "Synergy among Muslims is necessary. If Muslims are united, they add to each other's power. They all become strong. The unity of Muslims is a definite Qur'anic duty."
He further noted that the US politicians had increased their insistence on the differences between Sunnis and Shias over the past years while opposing Islam in principle to create division among Muslims.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the recent unfortunate explosions in Afghanistan's mosques and noted the incidents were among the same incidents that the ISIS terrorist group carried out to create, which the US explicitly admitted.
The Leader of the Islamic revolution considered the annual conferences around the unity of Muslims inadequate, stressing elaboration, encouragement, planning, and permanent schedule of duty.
One way to prevent such incidents in Afghanistan was the presence of the current officials of the country in the centers and mosques or to encourage the Sunni brothers to attend joint gatherings with their Shia brothers, he proposed.

"The birth of the Prophet of Islam is, in fact, the beginning of a new era in humankind’s life. It’s an announcement that a new era of the divine will and divine favors for humankind has commenced," he said.
"In any period of time, it is the believers’ duty to look at what situation they are in, what the religion expects of them, and what mission has been assigned to them. In this era, acting duly based on Islam’s comprehensiveness and the issue of Islamic unity appear to be very important," the Leader noted.
"Islam is an all-inclusive religion. One must act according to this all-inclusiveness. Worldly political powers insistently try to limit Islam to individuals’ deeds and beliefs. The Quran rejects this in 100s of verses. Islam is active in all social, political, international areas," he added.
"The Islamic Unity is definitely a Quranic obligation. The unity of Muslims is not a tactical matter that some people assume we should be united in certain situations. No, it is a principle. Cooperation between Muslims is necessary. If Muslims are united, they will all be strong," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
