Iran Press/ Iran news: The pardon and reduction of sentences by the Leader happened this time upon the request of the head of the judiciary and the arrival of Rabi-Al-Awwal and the birthday of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Imam Sadiq (AS).
The Head of the Judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejehi had asked Ayatollah Khamenei to pardon or commute more than 2000 prisoner's sentences.
Article 110 of the Iranian Constitution allows the Leader to pardon or commute prison terms of the inmates upon a proposal made by the chief of the Judiciary.
