US Presence in Region Brings Insecurity and Instability

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanani stated that the US military presence in the region has never contributed to regional security. He emphasized that their presence has instead fueled insecurity and instability in the area.

At his weekly presser on Monday, the diplomat addressed the US presence in Hormuz Strait, stating, "We believe that ensuring the security of waterways and safe shipping in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is one of Iran's priorities. This issue should be addressed through joint cooperation among coastal countries of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman."

Kanani added, "We believe that these countries have the capacity to provide common security in the region without any foreign intervention or extra-regional forces. They can ensure common interests and shipping security in this strategically significant water area."

He also criticized extra-regional countries for intervening under false slogans of maintaining security while pursuing their own selfish interests.
