Iran's Foreign Minister just arrived at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport today, welcomed with an official reception by Lebanese officials.

Iran’s support for Lebanon could be seen as a stabilizing factor in the region. Iran-Lebanon relationship holds strategic importance due to Lebanon's regional position and Iran's efforts to expand partnerships in West Asia.

 

The big picture:

During his visit to Beirut, Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with Lebanese officials. This trip follows his visit to Cairo to have consulatations over egional issues including the issue of Gaza and humanitarian crisis.

Araghchi upon his arriavle: “In the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic, our top priority is our neighbors, West Asia, and our friends in the region. Iran and Lebanon have deep-rooted relations that have always been friendly and based on mutual respect. We remain committed to continuing these relations on the basis of mutual interests and respect.”

He also emphasized Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty during the visit, reaffirming Iran’s continued support for the country’s territorial integrity.
