IP- The death toll among journalists killed in the Gaza Strip has risen to 158 since October 7, 2023, according to officials from the enclave's authorities.

Iran Press/ West Asia:  The authorities reported that five more media workers had been killed in recent military operations in the region. This comes as the Gaza health ministry stated that a total of 38,098 Palestinians have been killed and around 87,705 more have been wounded in the enclave.

The tensions in the Middle East escalated after Hamas militants from Gaza attacked Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths and hostage-taking of many Israelis living in settlements near the border. In response, Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave, as well as some areas in Lebanon and Syria, before proceeding with a ground operation in Gaza. Clashes have also been reported in the West Bank.

The rising death toll among journalists covering the conflict highlights the dangerous conditions they face in the region.

The authorities' report underscores the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
