Rome (IP) – Rome witnessed demonstrations, protests, and gatherings against the socio-economic policies of the Italian government.

Iran PressEurope: Thousands of Italians in Rome protested against the economic crisis, cost of life, Russia-Ukraine war, and military aid to Ukraine on Saturday evening.

Pointing to the high cost of living, one of the demonstrators told the Iran Press correspondent that Italians could no more tolerate the economic turmoil caused by the Russia-Ukraine war and the West's military aid to Ukraine.

The Italian citizen said: "Italians are at peace with other nations," adding, "They are drawing a different road map for their future."

Demonstrators chanted against the Italian government's support for Ukraine and NATO policies.

Regarding the anti-war policies of the Italian peace-seekers, another Italian civilian opposed the Italian government preparing military aid for Ukraine and told IranPress that Italians urged their government to withdraw from NATO.

"NATO suppresses nations and has brought nothing but violence and imperialism to countries," emphasized the activist.

According to Iran Press, asylum seekers and African immigrants participated in the rally in protest at the strict rules of the Italian government.

Italians demonstrated against poor healthcare services in Rome on Saturday.

"In Italy, one has to wait for months and even a year for some medical tests and to be treated by specialist," one of the demonstrators said.

The protest aimed to improve public health, treatment, and the easy access of all citizens to health services.

Demonstrators criticized the privatization of the Italian healthcare system. They announced that the shortage of medical staff caused the poor services provided to hospital patients and even the closure of dozens of medical centers in Italy.
