Iran PressEurope: Thousands of taxi drivers went on strike for 24 hours from 8 am on Wednesday. Taxi drivers are protesting a government bill to deregulate urban transportation services and expand the activities of large multinational corporations such as Uber.

The Italian government has decided to give more concessions to other companies active in the transport sector in a new competition bill.

Taxi drivers have announced that they would continue their strike and demonstrations if the government did not withdraw its bill's approval.

Taxi drivers also went on strike for a week before the Coronavirus Pandemic in Italy over the government's decision to offer more concessions to rival companies, which ended with the taxi drivers' union agreeing with the government to suspend the judgment.
