Iran Press/ Middle East: The events in the Sheikh Jarrah area began when the Israeli Supreme Court, in a strange and anti-human rights act, ruled to seize and evacuate a number of Palestinian homes in the area.
Palestinians living in Sheikh Jarrah staged large-scale demonstrations in the area in protest of the Israeli regime, which was severely repressed by the Zionist military.
Dozens of Palestinians were injured or detained by the regime’s troops during the protests.
In the aftermath of these incidents, the Palestinian movements also warned in statements about any foolishness of the Zionist regime to harm and displace the residents of the Sheikh Al-Jarrah.
The Palestinians own the land in al-Quds under an agreement reached in 1965 between the Jordanian government and UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East).
