Iran Press/ Iran News: Attending the event, Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Mahdi Esmaili, stressed that the prominent Persian poet belongs to Iran with a civilization of several thousand years, describing the fact as a reason for Iran's unity with other countries.
Esmaili further noted: "Nizami Ganjaviis, whose poetry contains moral rules, is one of the sources of Islamic literature and wisdom. On the one hand, his works revive Iranian and Islamic characters, and on the other hand, it gives strength to the Persian language.
He pointed out that the consolidation of the dimensions of Hakim Nizami, the Iranian and Islamic characters is the first step to paying tribute to him as a great poet.
Nizami Ganjavi is a cultural pride for Azerbaijani and Afghan nations and this is the cultural and historical greatness of Iran, Esmaili concluded.
Also, the head of the Persian Language and Literature Academy, Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel described Hakim Nizami as one of the five stars in the Persian language and literature, saying: "Nizami should be considered a source of pride for Persian speakers as he himself is proud of being an Iranian."
Haddad-Adel said that 900 years have passed since the era of Nizami Ganjavi, and in these years, he has been shining as a prominent figure in the Iranian culture.
He stated: "Nizami founded a special type of literature in Persian by writing five poetry collections including the Makhzan Al-Asrar (The Treasury of Mysteries); the three traditional love stories of Khosrow and Shirin, Leili and Majnoon, and Haft Paykar; and the Eskandar-Nameh, which has been imitated by hundreds.
At the festival, a number of radio professionals were honored. Iranians commemorate the National Nizami Ganjavi Day on March 12, 2023. The Iranian nation celebrate the weeklong event every year.
Nizami Ganjavi (c. 1141-1209 CE) is mostly known for “Khamseh”, two copies of which are preserved in Iran and have been inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register list in 2011. “Khamseh” is a pentalogy of poems written in Masnavi verse form (rhymed couplets) with a total of 30,000 couplets.
