A high-ranking military delegation headed by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has traveled to Kabul to meet and discuss with the officials of the current Afghan government.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iran Press News Agency, Brigadier General Bahram Hosseini, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, during his trip to Kabul, discussed joint border cooperation with Mali Khan Siddique, the Deputy Chief of the Armed Forces of the Afghan Government.

The Ministry of Defense of the Government of Afghanistan stated that the meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense of this country and both sides emphasized border issues, strengthening joint cooperation and solving some problems.

In this meeting, some Afghan government officials from the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture of this country were also present.

This trip has been done while, earlier on Friday, May 19, 2023, On his Twitter account, the foreign minister of Iran announced the non-cooperation of Afghanistan for the visit of Iranian technical delegations to measure the amount of water in Hirmand stressing that the criteria for the presence and scarcity of water are a technical and objective visit and not the issuing of a political statement.

According to the Iran Press news agency; Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during his visit to Chabahar on Thursday said regarding Hirmand's water rights: "I warn the rulers of Afghanistan to immediately grant the water rights to the people of Sistan and Baluchistan."

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran added: "If our experts confirm the lack of water, we have nothing to say, otherwise we will not allow the rights of our people to be violated, and this issue is not something that is subject to the passage of time."

The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Maulvi Abdul Kabir also issued a statement on the same day, Thursday, in response to the President's statement about Iran's  Hirmand's water  rights, and stressed: "The Islamic Emirate pledges once again that, keeping in mind the Helmand water agreement, it will do its best to ensure that the promised water reaches the people of Iran."
