Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran said that the country is not looking for the escalation of tension in the region but to punish the aggressor at every stage rather than crossing its red lines.

Iran PressIran news: Nasser Kanaani, commented on various regional and international developments in his weekly press conference.

He said that Iran does not seek to escalate tension in the region. While adhering to the United Nations Charter, the country will act more firmly to deter and punish the aggressor at every stage than crossing its red lines. Iran’s action was necessary and proportionate and targeted military targets. Considering the lack of necessary action by the Security Council and as a result of the irresponsible behavior of America, England, and France, the country has moved to defend its security and national interests.

Kanaani added: "Iran and its diplomatic apparatus and armed forces acted professionally in the recent incident and a legitimate response to the regime’s aggressive action. The country acted logically and responsibly."

Western nations to “appreciate Iran’s restraint”

Additionally, he addressed Iran's support for recent Human Rights Council resolutions regarding Palestine and Gaza, as well as the resumption of diplomatic activities at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran. Iran's top diplomat also called for European Union countries to appreciate the country's commitment to regional security and stability, urging them to align with peace-loving nations instead of supporting the Zionist regime.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran to resume work soon

Referring to the resumption of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s activities in Iran, Kanaani stated: "Good preparations have been made for the resumption of the diplomatic activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and very good discussions have taken place at the level of foreign ministers."

He further said that the diplomatic delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan came to Iran to check the preparations for the activity of the embassy in Tehran. There is a consensus that political and diplomatic cooperation will move forward and we will witness the resumption of the diplomatic activity of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Iran, Jordan relations friendly

Referred to summoning Iran's ambassador to Jordan by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and said: "It was noted that the summons was made in response to the news published by some Iranian sources about possibly Jordan’s role in the interception of some Iranian drones."

He went on to say about Jordan's participation in the interception of Iranian missiles and the summoning of Iran's ambassador, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "I am not in a position to confirm or deny Jordan's interception. Jordan has also been affected by criminal acts in the region." It is appropriate that Iran's legitimate action in punishing the aggressor is supported by the world. Our relations with Jordan are friendly and there has been continuous communication.

Iran's top diplomat also expressed hope that the cooperation between the two countries will take place within the framework of regional cooperation.
