Iran Press/ Iran News: There have been some incidents on the border since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last year. That is to say since the Taliban were not familiar with legal issues on the border, such incidents have occurred.
The Taliban forces ealier fired bullets at the homes in the eastern parts of Doust-Mohammad city, where the fire exchange between the Taliban forces and Iranian border guards got intense.
In January, an Iranian foreign ministry official said that the reason behind the clashes between Iranian forces and the Taliban was the lack of professional conduct by the latter.
In a press briefing on August 20, 2022, Iran's Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi said: "The reason behind the shootings on the border areas is that the Taliban border guards have not been familiar with the professional conduct and legal issues on the border, yet all issues regarding cooperation with the Taliban have been discussed between two sides."
Expressing hope that the matter will be managed, Vahidi added: "it is necessary to solve these issues gently and to talk with the officials stationed on the borders as well as the Taliban forces. Ont the borders, we are trying not to cause more sensitivities."
Vahidi further added the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces had been required to follow up on the plan to close the borders and resolve some ambiguities that may exist in the border areas. The official stated that the government aims to increase economic interactions with neighboring countries so that residents of border areas can benefit from border trade, which in turn helps to ensure security in border areas.
Regarding the activities of border bazaars, Vahidi said: "Some border markets are facing restrictions based on the requirements of the other country. We are trying to activate these capacities through dialogue because the government emphasizes the activation of border markets."
Vahidi clarified that based on the regulations, those who are active in border trade in the southern as well as other border areas are supposed to operate in the form of small businesses so that imports and exports from the borders are carried out within a certain limit.
He concluded the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade determines what goods should be imported into the country so that these imports do not have negative effects on domestic production.
