Iran Press/ Iran news: Every year on Arba’een, millions of people from around the world flock to Karbala. Large groups of mourners travel on foot toward the holy city to take part in the largest annual Islamic gathering on earth. The ceremony falls on September 17 this year.
On Monday, after Muqtada Al-Sadr announced his resignation from political activities in Iraq, pro-Sadr protesters stormed the presidential palace in Baghdad's Green Zone.
After the Iraqi security forces took control of the presidential palace, Muqtada Al-Sadr's supporters retreated from the Green Zone in Baghdad.
CAO deputy head Hassan Khoshkhoo said: "All flights from Iran to Iraq have been canceled until further notice, and no flights will be made from Iran to Iraq."
Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization also announced that Iranian pilgrims in Iraq are safe and sound and the sending of pilgrimage caravans to this country has been canceled.

Following the developments in Iraq, the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad issued a statement announcing that Iranian pilgrims should refrain from visiting the cities of Baghdad, Kazmain and Samarra.
