Tehran (IP) - Today (Monday), May 2 (Ordibehesht 12) is the martyrdom anniversary of 'Morteza Motahhari' and the commemoration of the great status of teacher in Iran.

Iran PressIran news: After the martyrdom of Morteza Motahhari, an Islamologist, scholar, and philosopher favorite of intellectuals, on May 1, 1979, at the hands of his enemies, this day has been named 'Teacher's Day' in the calendar of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

While studying in Qom, Shahid Motahari, in addition to learning scientific issues, was also actively involved in the field of political struggles and since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, he had been one of the activists of this movement and was considered as a close ally of Imam Khomeini, the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The martyred man of thought, 'Morteza Motahhari', studied the basics of Islamic sciences from the age of 12 and to complete his education, he attended the classes of prominent professors such as Ayatollah Boroujerdi, Allameh Tabatabai and Imam Khomeini in the seminary of Qom.

Having Deep knowledge of Islam and being aware of social, political and cultural issues and problems of the present era were among the characteristics of Martyr Motahhari.
