Iran test ReciGen against corona

Tehran (IP) - A specialized meeting was held in Tehran's Masih Daneshvari Hospital in order to examine the role of ReciGen drug, used to treat multiple sclerosis, in reducing death rates among the COVID-19 patients.

Iran Press/Iran News: The meeting held on Thursday was attended by the Head of Masih Daneshvari Hospital Ali Akbar Velayati, the head of Tehran's committees of the National Task Force for Fighting Against Coronavirus Alireza Zali and a number of physicians.  

At the beginning of the meeting, Velayati highlighted the experts' extensive efforts to achieve appropriate treatment and effective medicine against the coronavirus, with the valuable steps taken in the research area.

Velayati expressed hope that the research would lead to positive results as soon as possible, noting that an anti-coronavirus medicine is to be unveiled which can play a significant role in reducing the death rate of the coronavirus-infected patients.

He referred to ReciGen as one of the drugs used to treat COVID-19, saying that medicine has had a great impact on the treatment of the patients and its use was permitted by the Ministry of Health and in compliance with the relevant laws.

Those patients who used ReciGen recovered 5-times faster compared to the last treatments, added the official.

More extensive studies are needed to be developed that will be designed and implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Health, Velayati said.

The head of Tehran's committees of the National Task Force for Fighting Against Coronavirus Alireza Zali also appreciated the efforts of the medical staff of Masih Daneshvari Hospital who are at the forefront of fighting against the coronavirus.

During the event, some experts and physicians presented information about the drug and the effects of its use.

So far, around 1,173,208 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted in the country," the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Thursday.
