Iran Press/ Iran News: Nasser Kanani said: "We definitely refute the Salman Rushdie attacker's connection with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He further noted: "Spreading hatred and desecration of religious sanctities is condemned in terms of religion, morality and international law."
On Friday, a man storm the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and began punching or stabbing Rushdie as he was introduced.
He fell to the floor, and the man was restrained. Rushdie's condition was not immediately known.
Rushdie is the author of "The Satanic Verses," a blasphemous novel about Islam published in 1988, which sparked Muslims' outrage across the globe.
Rushdie's book has been banned in Islamic World since 1988, as many Muslims consider it blasphemous.
Rushdi's book caused fierce protests across the world.
