Iran Press/ Europe: Hassan Qashqavi, Iran's ambassador to Madrid, met with Spanish Senate Speaker Maria Pilar Cuenca on Monday, criticizing US sanctions against the Iranian people and stressing that it is currently not possible to import medical equipment to fight COVID-19 amid the global crisis.
Qashqavi said despite the Americans' claims, Washington severe sanctions target targeted humanitarian issues so it is not possible to use financial channels to purchase medicines to fight the coronavirus.
Iran's ambassador to Madrid pointed to the fifth anniversary of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), said "Global support for the implementation of Resolution 2231 and opposition to the US positions in the UN Security Council showed that American unilateralism will not work."
The Speaker of the Spanish Senate also emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and welcomed the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Spain in the area.
Maria Pilar Cuenca also stressed the need for global consultation and engagement in dealing with problems and disasters such as Corona.
