Raisi to Uzbekistan President:

Uzbekistan (IP) - In a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart, Iran's President said there is no limit to expanding relations between the two countries.

Iran PressAsia: Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has just arrived in Uzbekistan and was welcomed in an official ceremony by his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Raisi held talks with Shavkat Mirziyoyev and proposed in the meeting that the current $500 annual trade exchanges between Tehran and Tashkent can rise by three to four times in the first step.

He added that Iran's experiences in the agricultural sector and its technical and engineering capacities could be helpful in cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Before heading to Uzbekistan to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi said that improving the neighborhood policy, convergence, solidarity, and deepening multilateralism were among the aims of his state visit to Uzbekistan.

Mirziyoyev congratulated Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

He referred to his first meeting with Raisi and the developments, including bilateral trips of the two countries' officials during the one-year interval until the second visit, considering the developments as a basis for further extension of the ties between Iran and Uzbekistan. 

The Uzbek President reported the establishment of the joint investment commission between the two countries and the trade exchange shore-up with a 73% increase compared to the last year.
