Iran Press/ Iran news: The gates of Zayanderud Dam were opened, although for a 12-day period, to give a transitionary life to the thirsty river in touristic Isfahan.
The consecutive drought period in the last decades has led to Zayanderud being dry, but the revival of the river has refreshed the soul of the city and its people, making the Isfahani farmers happy.
Now the people in Isfahan are seizing the opportunity, spending beautiful seconds along the Zayanderud.
Zayanderud is one of the most important rivers in Iran, passing through Isfahan. Si-o-Se Pol (33 bridges) and Khaju Bridges are the two well-known historical constructs in the path of the river.
The river originated from the Zard-Kuh subrange of the Zagros Mountains in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. It flows 400 kilometers (249 mi) eastward before ending in the Gavkhouni swamp, a seasonal salt lake southeast of Isfahan (Esfahan) city.
