In a significant diplomatic meeting, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian met with Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, to discuss key bilateral and regional issues.

Iran Press/Europe:  Pezeshkian expressed that his entry into the presidential race was motivated by a desire for social cohesion within Iran and stronger international relationships, which resonated with the public. He condemned the Israeli regime, stating that its actions, including the assassination of a prominent Palestinian figure on the first day of his presidency, disrupted Iran’s efforts for peace.

During their discussion, which took place during Pezeshkian's visit to Russia, the Iranian president emphasized the importance of BRICS in reforming unfair international and regional frameworks.

The Iranian leader noted that while Iran showed restraint in the hope of establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, the ongoing violence necessitated a firm response. He criticized Western support for Israel, asserting that any hostile actions against Iran would result in a strong and unprecedented retaliation.

Furthermore, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's commitment to peace and stability, clarifying that while Iran does not seek to escalate tensions in the region, the provocations from Israel threaten regional security. He called for other countries, especially in the West, to take action against the aggressive behaviors of the Israeli regime.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed acknowledged Iran's positive reputation in Ethiopia and expressed concern over the developments in the region, stating that Iran is seen as a strong and independent nation. He highlighted the current inequalities in global and regional structures, asserting that institutions like BRICS play a crucial role in addressing these disparities.

This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and tackle shared regional challenges, particularly in the context of security and international cooperation.
