Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, currently attending the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, strongly condemned Israel’s actions, describing the regime as a force of "crime, murder, and war-mongering."

 Iran Press/Europe:  Speaking on Tuesday evening during a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pezeshkian emphasized, "We hope that nations claiming to defend human rights will change their approach and stop supporting the Israeli regime to help end its crimes and killings."

Iranian-Indian Relations and Regional Issues Discussed

During their meeting, the Iranian and Indian officials discussed key bilateral issues and regional developments. Both leaders emphasized the necessity of ending conflicts in the region and avoiding double standards in human rights practices.

Pezeshkian also addressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of agreements between Iran and India, particularly regarding the development of Chabahar Port. "Iran is eager to strengthen its relationship with India," said Pezeshkian, highlighting that both nations’ membership in BRICS offers a platform to enhance cooperation for mutual benefit. He added, "Strengthening economic relations between regional countries will raise the welfare and security of our nations. I've proposed creating a regional communication network, and BRICS provides a suitable model for advancing this idea."

Iran Supports Peace Initiatives in Afghanistan

Regarding Afghanistan, Pezeshkian assured Modi that Iran supports all efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the war-torn country. "We must work with Afghanistan to build a peaceful future for the region," he said, adding that Iran is ready to back any action that would lead to lasting peace in Afghanistan.

Modi Expresses Desire for Stronger Ties with Iran

Prime Minister Modi recalled his previous visit to Iran and his meeting with the Supreme Leader, describing it as memorable. He asked President Pezeshkian to convey his greetings to the Leader and expressed India’s interest in expanding cooperation with Iran under Pezeshkian’s leadership.

Modi also condemned the killing of innocent civilians in Gaza and Lebanon, stating that "India does not accept these actions." He added that India is in talks to promote peace in the region and echoed Pezeshkian’s concerns about the double standards in human rights enforcement.

Modi described the longstanding relations between Iran and India, rooted in ancient civilizations with many cultural ties, as a solid foundation for cooperation. "The development of Chabahar Port is the cornerstone of our bilateral cooperation," Modi stated, highlighting the port’s significance for enhancing not only Iran-India relations but also ties with other regional countries. He concluded by affirming India’s interest in expanding economic ties with Iran, emphasizing that closer cooperation will benefit the entire region.
