Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking to his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament emphasized that Lebanon remains at the center of discussions regarding ceasefire negotiations and aid for war-affected populations. He stated, “Today, you are at the forefront, and we, as part of the resistance axis, will provide political support and any other necessary assistance."
Ghalibaf praised Berri’s hospitality during his recent visit to Beirut and highlighted his efforts to raise Lebanon’s issues at the 149th IPU (Inter-Parliamentary Union) Assembly in Geneva. "After my visit to Lebanon, I traveled to Geneva where I made sure to address Lebanon's situation, shedding light on its conditions to the international community," said Qalibaf. He reiterated that Iran's leadership, government, parliament, and people stand firmly with Lebanon.
The Iranian Speaker also stressed that the Islamic Republic would continue to support Lebanon in line with previous agreements made during the time of martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to help facilitate the ceasefire process and address the ongoing crisis. “We pray for Lebanon’s success, and as per previous agreements, we are committed to helping Lebanon move forward with the ceasefire,” he added.
In his response, Nabih Berri, Speaker of Lebanon’s Parliament, thanked Qalibaf for his concern and reiterated the importance of Iran’s role. He pointed out the severe challenges Lebanon faces, particularly the displacement of 1.2 to 1.4 million Lebanese due to the Israeli occupation. Berri stressed, “The enemy is attempting to erase entire villages and towns in southern Lebanon, and they are committing atrocities similar to those in Gaza, particularly in southern Beirut and the Bekaa Valley.”
Berri further explained the severity of the situation, describing how Israeli fighter jets continue to strike, causing widespread destruction and displacing families. Despite the challenges, he affirmed, “This oppression will not stop our resistance. With our faith and strength, we will overcome the enemy.”
The phone call between the two leaders underscored the deepening solidarity between Iran and Lebanon, with both countries committed to continuing their resistance against external aggression.
