(IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister held talks with the Special Representative of the European Union for the Persian Gulf region.

Iran PressIran news: The EU Special Representative in the Persian Gulf region Luigi Di Maio today (Sunday) held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran,

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Di Maio also met Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri-Kani.

ِDeputy Director of the Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani held talks with the special representative of the European Union for the Persian Gulf region Luigi Di Maio today (Sunday). 

In the meeting with Di Maio, the Iranian deputy for the foreign minister highlighted the vast areas of cooperation between Iran and the European Union, saying that the Raisi administration enjoys diverse strategies in its foreign policy. 

Iranian top diplomat also pointed to the country's capabilities, which provide opportunities for regional and international interactions and cooperation.      

Referring to the role of the European Union in consolidating the capacities of Europe, Bagheri Kani pointed to Iran's will, and capabilities for bilateral interactions.

In the meeting, Di Maio also emphasized the effective role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional and international issues. 

He also enlisted his missions as a special representative of the European Union in the Persian Gulf region, stressing the open path of dialogue and interaction with Iran.

He was recently appointed as the special envoy of the European Union for the countries of the Persian Gulf.

Joseph Burrell, EU foreign policy head sent a letter to the members of the European Union, announcing the appointment of Di Maio in this position.
