Najaf (IP)- Iran's foreign minister, continuing his official visit to Iraq, entered the holy city of An-Najaf al-Ashraf on Thursday evening.

Iran PressMiddle East: Deputy Governor of Najaf Seyed Hashem Al-Geraavi and a number of officials of Najaf province welcomed Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the airport.

Amir- Abdollahian visited Iraq at the invitation of Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, with senior Iraqi officials.

At the beginning of his visit to Iraq, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran pointed out that the country is pleased with Iraq's return to its natural and effective role in the region and said that the visit is aimed at pursuing bilateral issues and continuing consultations with Baghdad regarding important regional and international issues.

Amir- Abdollahian stated that there are close consultations between Tehran and high-ranking officials of Baghdad on important regional and international issues.

During the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran to Iraq, several issues such as border security, the presence of anti-revolution and separatist political currents in the Iraqi Kurdistan region and the necessity of expelling terrorist groups from the region, pursuing the case of the assassination of resistance martyrs, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, as well as follow-up of Iran's economic demands and regional and international issues, were discussed and exchanged.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran also announced the imminent visit of the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran to Iraq to sign the security cooperation document in a meeting with Qassem al-Aarji, Iraq's national security adviser.
