Iran Press/Iran news: The first vice president of Iran, Eshaq Jahangiri visited the flood-hit Qarah Su rural district in Kermanshah province. He was also present at the flood and torrent control around the Kermanshah.
Then Jahangiri took part in the coordination council for crisis management in Kermanshah province where he was informed by Kermanshah governor, Hooshang Bazvand that some 66 villages with some 5000 families are threatened by floodwaters, Iran Press reported.
Bazvand went on to say that 10 reservoirs and dams in Kermanshah capacity is only about 145 million cubic meters. He also stressed that the city is ready to fight floodwaters.
Janahgiri who is on the 3-day visit to flood affected areas is going to the provinces of Lorestan, Ilam and Khuzestan as well.
Jahangiri is accompanied by Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami, Iran's Health Minister, Saeed Namaki, Minister of Agriculture, Mahmoud Hojjati, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Masoud Soltanifar and the Vice President of Iran for parliamentary affairs, Hossein-Ali Amiri.
Earlier on March 24, the first vice president of Iran said that the government will compensate for some of the damage caused by the floods and will support and help the flood-affected people.
Eshaq Jahangiri made the remarks on Saturday whilst visiting the flood-stricken areas in Mazandaran and Golestan provinces.
During his visit, the first vice president was informed about the conditions of the flood-stricken people and how local health services were coping with the disaster, IRNA reported.
Following heavy downpours and flash floods in most provinces of Iran, some thirty provinces are currently grappling with flash floods, landslides and are involved in protection and alleviation projects. 105/203
